'Night to Honor Israel'

This post is a week late, but still relevant. Last week, on October 25, 2006, Cornerstone Church, under the leadership of Pastor John Hagee, hosted the annual 'Night to Honor Israel'. 'One Jerusalem' did a great feature on this celebration on their blog. This feature includes video footage from the service and greetings from Former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu:

One thing I would like to comment on is that the number of Christian pastors and leaders willing to take the time to recognize and honor Israel are far and few between these days. One of the movements/beliefs that were previously and largely ignored by the Evangelical community is called 'Preterism'. This belief system, in a nutshell, states that the Church replaced Israel when the Jews rejected Jesus, and therefore, God severed his promise with the Jewish people and transferred the promises from the Old and New Testaments to the modern Christian Church. In my opinion, this crazy belief system resulted in our current State Department 'coercing' Israel into dividing parts of their land between the Israelis and the Palestinians. It is my understanding that both President Bush and Secretary Rice have a true faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as their savior. The real question is whether they subscribe to the Preterist belief system or support Israel's right to the Holy Land. Unfortunately, the action of the State Department begs the question. The bottom line is that even if the Israelis gave a big chunk of Israel to the Palestinians, the current Hamas leadership would still continue to seek the destruction of the Jewish occupants.
